This is a 3D printed item, using a fine ABS like resin and is a complete body (with separate roof, sand boxes and exhaust) to create an O scale narrow gauge railway loco (7mm / foot) running on 16.5mm track.

This is a local community railway loco and was commissioned by a customer who had seen the "as-built" 1928 version and was looking to add an example of the Kerr Stuart number 4415 in rebuilt form for its early days on the Ffestiniog railway (from 1929), with revised exhaust and lowered cab roof.

Apparently, this version of the engine mainly worked slate trains between Minffordd and the Harbour Station, which required the lowered roof to fit the loading gauge on this section of the line. When the Ffestiniog Railway could not afford to buy her, she was used as a contractor’s locomotive before being moved to Ireland and later Mauritius where she was modified further (see separate listing for that version with larger sandboxes).

The original loco is currently owned by the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways Heritage Company and undergoing restoration.

Photos 1 to 4 show the loco as you will receive it (body, roof, exhaust and sand boxes).

The last photo shows the parts that are required to complete the loco (Tenshodo 35mm x 14mm chassis or similar and PECO couplings). 1.0mm brass rod will also be required to create the linkages and pipes for the sand boxes (couplings, motorised chassis, brass rod and track are not included in the sale). These are genuine photos taken with a full frame 35mm SLR and not digital representations.

You simply need to remove the two formers from the base, remove the supports from the door and front and rear window openings and smooth the roof. The holes for brass rod will need a quick clean out with a 1mm drill bit and brass rod added (if required) to form the sand pipework and operating rods. It is then ready to paint / attach the roof and exhaust / fit to the chassis (not supplied) and add the couplings (not supplied).

It is designed to run on a Tenshodo 35mm x 14mm chassis (not supplied) that simply clips into the body. It also uses two standard Peco GR-102 009 couplings (not supplied) that also slot neatly into the bodywork.

Mark Clark from LocosnStuff has designed a more accurate 6 wheel chassis. He will be able to advise on how it should be fitted and is able to carry out the required modifications.

Bear in mind the size of these items when looking at the detail in the photos. The loco body substantially bigger than our other O9 miniature locos and is 100mm long, 43mm wide and 58mm high and scaled to 7mm to the foot.

It will be dispatched with Royal Mail 2nd Class with suitable protective packaging.
