TALYLLYN "TOM ROLT" No 7 NARROW GAUGE LOCOMOTIVE (EARLY VERSION) (BODY ONLY) (O16.5 Gauge 7mm scale)

This is a 3D printed item, using a fine ABS like resin and is a complete body (with separate detail parts) to create an O scale narrow gauge railway loco (7mm / foot) running on 16.5mm track.

This is a near scale replica of the popular Tom Rolt steam locomotive running on the Talyllyn Narrow Gauge railway. It has been designed to run on the Dapol OO Gauge B4 chassis and was specially commissioned by a modeller to add to his O16.5 gauge railway. It even retains the glowing firebox effect.

Photos 1, 2 and 3 are of an example of the set of parts as you will receive them, comprising of:

- main body

- roof

- water tanks

- replacement cylinders

- rear pony truck pivot

- cab controls (3 parts)

- whistle, regulator bracket and steam valves

- name and number plates (now included as part of the body - ask if you would like them excluded or separate)

- buffers

- smokebox door locking assembly

The model requires the Dapol B4 chassis and 9mm diameter disc wheels for the pony truck with a 2mm axle (not supplied) to complete (as well as a few modelling skills). Some modellers choose not to include the pony truck as it is not very visible beneath the cab.

Photos 5 and 6 show the Dapol B4 chassis fitted into the body and also with the replacement cylinders attached. The only modifications required to the chassis are to remove the couplings, pull out the two rear sand box pipes and to drill out the front and rear fixing holes to 2mm to accept the new fixing bolts (2x M2 machine screws are supplied with the body kit).

These are genuine photos taken with a full frame 35mm SLR and not digital representations. 

To complete the body kit you will need to remove a former from the base of the boiler with a razor saw, smooth out any small printing imperfections and then fix the cab controls, buffers, smokebox door mechanism and water tanks.

A regulator bar runs from the cab to the steam injector and should be fabricated from 0.8mm brass rod (a bracket is supplied to complete the mechanism). The holes for brass rod will need a quick clean out with a 1mm drill bit and brass rod added (if required).

Finally the roof can be added and it is ready to go.

The body includes NEM pockets to accept a variety of couplings. 

Bear in mind the size of these items when looking at the detail in the photos. The loco body is 116mm long (excluding the buffers), 40mm wide and 58mm high (and scaled to 7mm to the foot). A few minor compromises were made with the model to accommodate the Dapol B4 chassis, but it is all pretty close.
